...STANDINGS

We really want to finish second. It’s out of our hands, but we want to do a thorough job in our final home match and take the game seriously. We also want to make VfB history by finishing with 71 or, ideally, 73 points. We want to finish the campaign on a high on home soil in front of our unbelievable fans. That’s what motivates us and makes us go the extra mile. Ultimately, we want to have fun again tomorrow, play well and win – alongside our fans in the stadium. To do that, we need to do the basics right, stay focused and get the three points.

...OPPONENT

Gladbach have already secured survival, but they’ll also take the game very seriously. They’ve beaten us twice already, too. It would be fatal to start playing mind games or to underestimate our opponents. Gladbach have good footballers in their ranks, they’re strong in transition, and they have great individual quality and technical skill. It’s going to be a real test for us tomorrow. We want to end the season successfully and I hope we’re in for an enjoyable afternoon of football.

…INJURY REPORT

Simon Walde, Grant-Leon Ranos and Tony Jantschke will definitely be missing on Saturday due to injuries. Franck Honorat and Robin Hack have not been able to train with the team this week. They are just as questionable as Chris Kramer and Max Wöber. With all four we have to wait and see whether it is enough for match day. We will assess the opportunities and risks together with the medical department on Friday in order to then make a final decision.

…POSSIBLE ROTATION

We take the game on Saturday very seriously and will try to play with the best possible team. There will certainly be the opportunity to use young players during the game and give them experience. We will certainly not turn everything upside down in terms of personnel and thereby send any wrong signals.

…THE LAST MATCH

Of course, the game can no longer be classified in the table in the same way as the previous games. Nevertheless, we want to ensure a good finish and take on the challenge of beating one of the best teams in the Bundesliga away from home. We want to develop further in every game – be it in the technical, tactical, mental or physical areas. That's why we want to bring the right attitude onto the pitch on Saturday and put in another good performance against a top opponent in front of a great crowd.

…IMPROVEMENT

There are enough points that we need to improve both individually and as a team. Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten into such a situation. This season we have rarely managed to take advantage of good situations. We gave up too many leads and therefore lost a few points. That in turn had a big influence on our setup and our style of play. All of this will be part of the season analysis. We have to work on our defence and our stability. We would like to maintain our strengths in the offensive area – such as quick switching. Of course, we would like to gain more control of the game overall. We will work through these things in order to then define what our new season should look like and what kind of football we will stand for in the future.
