Meeting Highlights

...RASHFORD

Lot of sympathy for Rashy of course. Last year was a brilliant season - the best of his career - and you saw what he is capable of. This year he didn’t give performances and people have been very critical. I think we have to back him and push him to get back to the levels of last year.

...INJURY REPORT

Mason Mount will return to the squad for the Burnley game, but otherwise it is the same personnel as against Sheffield United, so Rashford is unlikely to return. Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw and Anthony Martial are all likely to return from injury this season. They returned, all three onto the pitch. Next week, they have to make a step into team training and we think they can be available for the last weeks. They are progressing well.

...ABOUT THE MATCH

The team needs be better organised out of possession and play at a high intensity between now and the end of the season. We have made huge progress in possession this season, and thinks it is immense. I want attacking players to contribute more discipline and put more pressure on the ball when the team are defending. No, we are playing for points to get the best position in the league and to win silverware.

...BURNLEY

They play high intensity football and have changed their approach a little. They are now more in a survival mode and are doing pretty well. In the last couple of games, they have got good results and will be hard to beat.

...FANS

The fans are behind us always. We are back at Old Trafford and the reception on Wednesday was louder than I have heard. Away from home they are also always supportive and backing the team. There is a good connection between the team and the fans.

...HOPE

Game by game at this moment in time. Just gives us one opportunity to fight - that is all we need and we spend so much energy in training to get the team to the best possible level. Saturday against Sheffield United was one game and that win gives us an opportunity.

...MANCHESTER UNITED

It is a meaningful game and has been for many years in my life. It is really about Burnley and it is for this club and I want to be successful on Saturday. As a manager, you do keep the experience as a player. I have to transfer something into them so they feel they belong to play in that game and win. They have some high quality players in the final third. They have had struggles with injuries but when you play Man Utd you play a top team in the country and you have to embrace the challenge.

...IMPROVEMENT

Consistency and hard work and making sure you don’t allow the noise to distract. The universal recipe is consistency which will make you improve and we still have room to improve. It is a very calm club- we have put in the hours to improve the players. You cannot really focus on the other teams, you have to focus on yourselves and it is unpredictable, so anything can happen. What we have lacked is three pointers. We have some but I would like to push it again and for the team to make the next step. It is a tough game, but whether it’s United or another team, I want them to make the step up.
