Season Start

I'm enjoying the moment. I have enjoyed it very much from the first day since we returned. I was really excited about the rebuild, really excited about the kids, the new path, the new energy. Last year we already decided that we need to change a lot - but we want to change for the better, not because we have to. Yes, I was and still am really excited about this. We're not really there, we're not stable yet, there aren't many things - but we are already many things. There are many exciting moments in the games and I think this is a good start, nothing more. But as a start to the season, we're absolutely fine.

Team Status

I don't know, I don't know exactly where we are because we've gone through different phases. All I can do is work extremely hard to make the process as positive as possible.

West Ham

There are many extremely strong rivals - West Ham is one of them. It's a really exciting project. I'm happy for David that he's built this team in a few years. Even without Declan Rice, they look really good, I must say. [James] Ward-Prowse, super signing. [Lucas] Paqueta is not a new signing, he is a super player. With all the other men they already have, West Ham look really solid and that makes it really difficult to play them. The league is extremely strong. It's good for people, but for us it means we have to be the best version of ourselves.

Harmonization of Transfers

I am really pleased that Muhammed Kudus has already made a great contribution for us. As we say about a lot of our new players coming into the Premier League, he's still getting used to us and we're still getting used to him. We'll give Mo a chance to settle in, but he made a good contribution on Thursday night. James Ward-Prowse has also settled in incredibly well. I felt he had the best chance of settling in quickly, probably because of his Premier League experience. He captained Southampton for a long time and was also included in the England squad, so I expected him to adapt faster. We wanted to see if he could give us goals and assists and he certainly did that. James started well for us. He is a bit of a Mark Noble type of player for us in terms of what he brings to the team, and as everyone knows, his serves are very effective.

Liverpool

Some teams have taken the lead against Liverpool this season, but Liverpool have won against them. Liverpool matches are always an incredibly difficult game. The crowd and the stadium always play a big part when trying to get a result at Anfield, but I think we've tended to show them a good game in recent seasons. We tried to make it difficult for them to take points from us and we will try to show them another good game on Sunday. We know we are playing against a really good opponent and we have to go and show what we can do. Liverpool can challenge for the title this year. People say we've had a good start to the season, but Liverpool have won all but one of their games so far. Overall, they're off to a good start. They also add new players to their squad like us. Liverpool look like they are starting to get into their best form.
