...ABOUT THE MATCH

It shouldn’t be about me tomorrow – it’s all about the match. We’ve still got work to do. We’re competing with a few other teams to achieve something special this season. We’ve got to pool our strengths. It’s going to be a tense, exciting game. It’s a home game that we want to dominate. We’ve got to make everyone in the ground feel our desire. We can’t let ourselves get jumpy in front of goal. We need to make sure we keep trying to find ways into their box. We’ve not been as active in this regard as we have in the past.

…INJURY REPORT

Unfortunately, Tim Kleindienst is missing. In addition, yesterday everyone who was last available for action trained, except for Marnon Busch.

…ABOUT THE MATCH

You play to win. We all know that tomorrow is a special game for Christian Streich – his last home game. It is well known that I value him very much, and yet the 90 minutes will of course be about something. The Freiburg team are currently in seventh place and of course want to keep this place so that they can also play internationally. We will try, as we did in the first leg, to annoy Freiburg and win if possible. But that is our goal in every game. We are aware that Freiburg also want to give their coach a fitting farewell present at home. We have to be prepared to really take a stand against it right from the start. We invested a lot in the first leg, played a good game, turned the game around and played very passionately until the end. That will definitely come back to fruition tomorrow.

…CHRISTIAN STREICH AND THE OPPONENT

I think the best way to describe it is with admiration and respect. Of course, this also serves as a role model. With the exception of one year, he was always a coach in the Bundesliga. Has qualified for Europe several times. Is a guy, is authentic. He's not the cookie-cutter person you see every now and then. He stands for something, he's different and I like that. I think it will be difficult to replace Christian Streich or, in other words, it will be different, but of course it is possible. Just as it will be possible when I'm no longer there. Then it goes on, but it will be different and I really have respect for his performance. In games it's always difficult to find that connection or have the time to talk about a few things. But I was able to get to know him at many coaching conferences - both large and small. At times I was his chauffeur to the train station. We were then able to discuss one thing or another again. It's just a huge career: It's great what he achieved in Freiburg and of course he will be missed with the way he played. But he has decided to quit. Knowing him, he certainly decided that with one hundred percent clarity. That's why I wish him a fitting farewell in the last two games. Of course, we can't give him a gift tomorrow and leave the points voluntarily. We will fight back with everything we have. But I don’t think Christian Streich expects it to be any different.
