I’m well aware of all the records people keep telling me and all the rest of it. But you know, I am looking forward to the game. It’s a game, and derbies are the game for the people where they live. I didn’t grow up here so I won’t have that depth of understanding. What I do understand, is how important it is to be Everton’s manager, that is for sure. In all games, and in particular this one for the obvious reason.
Beto won't feature next couple of games after being knocked out against Nottingham Forest. l'm hoping that Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be back. Good news so far as he’s had all the checks needed and he’s fine, he just took a real knock but I thought the staff, all staff involved were terrific getting on there quickly to deal with things effectively on his behalf. We’re hopeful that he will be back for tomorrow, we’ll wait and see but we’re hopeful on that one.
It’s an old-fashioned term, but win your headers, win your tackles and win your races. That used to be a big thing when I was playing and it’s still kind of there, really. That’s your own individual moment in a game when you are dealing with whoever you are playing against. That’s for every position. You can win your battles in a different way. If you are a centre forward, you might win it with your cleverness, rather than your physicality. So you know there are different ways to win your battles. I don’t think that goes anywhere other than the start point of a team game. You have to know what your role is against that player, but also your covering role as part of a team unit. So, therefore, rather than worry about each battle, there has to also be connectivity with the team. That’s where the shape becomes important, the tactics and the delivery of a physical performance to cover the ground needed. You want those individual battles for each player to also connect as a team. If you get that right you have a better chance of getting what you want which is to win.

Manager on Liverpool...IMPORTANT DERBY
So yeah, super-important for us obviously, that's clear. I think with the last two results, Everton pretty much sorted it, staying in the league. They have us and another home game on the weekend, so three home games in a row. Their idea is to win all three and then it should be sorted, definitely. And for us it's clear, the situation is clear [and] we don't have to say that again and again and again. It is really important, like all the other games were as well. We know about the importance, definitely.
...ABOUT THE MATCH
They are always difficult games, especially there. At home it was I am not sure if comfortable is the right way to say it but more comfortable at least. I think we have a pretty good record; only Carlo Ancelotti won at Anfield, who everybody knows is a really good manager. So, we lost against Carlo, but besides that we had good results, good games and now it is not too important what we had in the past. This is a super-important game for us, so whatever we did in the past is not too important for this game. We just should give it a proper try there and that's what we will do.

I'm very positive, not in a strange way where I want to see things brighter than they are. But I know this is the last part of the season and it's not about playing the freshest football of the whole year – that would be strange if that works out with the schedule all the teams had. But you have to win games and I think we know how to do that. But for that, you have to overcome each opponent in specific ways. Now we have today to make sure that everybody understands the way we want to try tomorrow.I don’t think that goes anywhere other than the start point of a team game.
