…TOUCHLINE SUSPENSION

Fair enough, I acknowledge that what I said in the moment doesn't reflect what I think of the official. It was too harsh and it's not what I meant. In the moment the emotions got the better of me. It's unpleasant but I have full trust in the staff and players. On match day, the most important people are the players and we need to reflect that on the day.

…INJURY REPORT

On goalkeeper James Trafford's absence from the past two games: James Trafford has been ill. He's come back now and he looks in good spirits. Dara O'Shea is suspended for the match. I do not expect any other players to be missing.

…BRIGHTON

They are a unique opposition. Without being classed as one of the big six in the league, they've managed to establish themselves with all the habits of the top teams. They force the opposition to adapt and that's exceptional. It's a pretty special situation to be in. The strategy isn't to play younger players. The strategy is a decision made by the club. The balance between performance and being in the development phase - it's a difficult puzzle to solve.

…INJURY REPORT

Full-back Tariq Lamptey, who played the whole of the defeat by Arsenal, will miss the trip to Lancashire. It’s a tough situation. Billy Gilmour, James Milner and Adam Webster could be available in the next few weeks after making good progress. Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck are likely to start together, with one playing as a winger and the other the number nine. I’m happy and lucky to work with goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen and that the club has two very good options.

…BURNLEY

They are fighting and playing very well with a clear style of play. The players know what they have to do on the pitch and they are aggressive with and without the ball.

…EUROPE FIGHT

We have a real chance of qualifying for Europe again but that starts with believing they can and winning games. It is tough because there are a lot of strong and very good teams, but we have the chance. This season we are paying a big price on it being the first experience of European football. But the second can be easier.
