…INJURY REPORT

Christoph Kramer is still ill and is unlikely to be in the squad. Tony Jantschke has a small strain and it won't be enough for him until Saturday. Grant-Leon Ramos also suffered an ankle injury and will also miss the game. Manu Koné's progress is positive, but he still needs a clean build-up. I think we will see him on the pitch again at the end of the season.

…KO ITAKURA

Ko gave us a lot of stability in this position in Wolfsburg. We are glad that we have versatile players like him in the squad. This gives us the opportunity to influence the game via different profiles. It is also a good way for me as a coach to adjust the match plan. The system with two sixes worked well in Wolfsburg, so it is of course also an option for the coming games.

…DORTMUND

The fact that BVB played in the Champions League on Wednesday evening is perhaps a small advantage for us. But I assume that Dortmund will make one or two personnel changes on Saturday. You have a lot of quality available to be able to carry out these changes. However, the structure and style of play of the opponent are much more important for our considerations. Dortmund's processes are quite clear. So we have an idea of what approach they will take this weekend. We can only offer BVB a little depth. But that's not all. The Dortmunders operate with a lot of opposing movements, which requires good handoffs and visual and verbal communication in order to pick up certain routes. We also have to win the duels in the important zones and put pressure on the ball from a certain height so that the opponent doesn't have the chance to play dangerous passes behind the chain.

…INJURY REPORT

All players, apart from the long-term injured Ramy Bensebaini, are fit for action. After that we will make the decision whether it is enough for Saturday about Donyell Malen.

…PREPARATION

We know exactly that we have to step up. We are currently only concerned with Gladbach. From Sunday we will focus on the second leg against Madrid. But now our clear focus is on the game tomorrow. This makes it clear that it will be a difficult task. They have repeatedly been able to achieve victories against top teams, especially in home games. This season they beat VfB Stuttgart. We have been warned.

…OPPONENT

They were able to turn around a deficit, an important win in which they chose a slightly more defensive approach that they wanted to maintain. Next to us, they are one of the strongest counter-attacking teams in the league and extremely dangerous in set-piece situations. We have proven in the past that we can be unpleasant opponents even at this rate.
